
The Wyandotte originated in the US in the early 1800’s, being named after a native American tribe, the Wendat, who were found in upstate New York and Ontario, Canada. This is an excellent dual purpose bird that matures quickly and has a good egg production.

- Bright red rose comb, close to the head with yellow beaks and feet
- Adult weight 6 to 8 pounds
- Large brown eggs (180 to 200 per year)
- Curious and docile
- LC status – recovering

If you’re asking if our Lavender Orpington are true lavender, yes! Lavender is the reference color when breeding two lavenders together and it results in lavender. It breeds true. Blue is the gene color if you’re breeding Blue, Black or Splash colored chickens together. You’ll get the variety of those 3.
